Poster Contest

The Marshall County Soil Conservation District recently held its annual poster contest for grades K – 12.   This contest provides kindergarten through twelfth grade students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about soil, water and related natural resource issues through art. It also highlights the educational outreach efforts of conservation districts and their state conservation associations, auxiliaries and agencies. The poster contest theme follows the annual Stewardship theme.   The 2008 Stewardship theme is ‘Water for Life”.

The winning entrants for 2008 are: fourth through sixth grades – Austin Lee (Oak Grove Elementary), and seventh through ninth grades -  Aaron Medley (Lewisburg Middle School).   Each winner received a certificate and a check for $25.00 from the District, and their posters will be entered in the Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest.

Earth Day

On April 22, 1970, 20 million people across America celebrated the first Earth Day.   Through the combined efforts of the U.S. government and grassroots organizations what started as a day of national environmental recognition has evolved into a world-wide campaign to protect our global environment.   Earth Day is a day to show how much we care about protecting the environment.   Each year, in celebration of this important occasion, the Marshall County Soil Conservation District donates $100.00 to each of the county high school agriculture programs.
